MN Real Estate Hall of Fame inducts Edina residentNovember 23, 2018
Edina resident Jim Nelson was inducted into the Minnesota Real Estate Hall of Fame Nov. 7, during a morning ceremony at the Golden Valley Golf and Country Club. Nelson joins fellow inductees Tom Holtz and Russ Nelson, who are all being honored for their business performance, standards of ethics and commitment to community improvement.
With more than 50 years of experience in real estate advisory services, finance, and investment, Jim Nelson has played a leadership role in such transformative projects as the Midtown Exchange, the Walker Art Center expansion and U.S. Bank Stadium. Nelson is currently principal of Eberhardt Advisory, LLC in Minneapolis, which provides strategic planning and implementation services to commercial real estate clients.
In recent years, he has concentrated on counseling the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, the state of Minnesota, the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority. Other clients over the years have included Allina Hospitals and Clinics, the Minneapolis Public Library, the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota and the Freshwater Society.
Beyond business, Nelson is known for his volunteerism. He has served on many civic and industry boards, and he helped shape and guide the Mortgage Bankers Association of America. Nelson has also mentored an extensive group of individual leaders who work in all facets of the real estate industry across the state and country.
The Minnesota Real Estate Hall was established in 2010 by the Shenehon Center for Real Estate at the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business.
